“Lucky” is a portrait of a wolf in a wreath of violet and pink flowers.

What the picture shows

The wolf looks straight at you: yellow eyes with dark pupils, a pale muzzle, ears turned outwards. The fur is worked in cool violet and grey stitches with warm russet breaks, as if evening light were falling on it. Flowers lie densely around the head — pink peonies, lilac bells, coral buds — with greyish-green leaves. The white canvas stays open only in the corners. Forty-six floss colours, 93 m. The eyes are stitched last and most precisely: two or three stitches decide exactly where the wolf is looking.
