What the picture shows

A blue-grey kerchief covers her head, and a big red flower sits in her hair at the side. In her hands is a bouquet of pink, lilac, orange and yellow blooms tied with pale cloth. The background is worn plaster with blurred vertical streaks. Beads cover the bouquet, the roses on the skirt, the lace of the collar, the flower in her hair and separate details of the blouse, while the face, the hands, the kerchief and the wall stay as print on the artist canvas, so the portrait keeps its painterly softness and the stitching adds relief.
