What the picture shows

It takes place in a bright room with tall windows and house plants, on a warm wooden floor. The main colours are the sky blue of the dress and hair bow against the cream and golden-red of the dog's coat. Beads cover the girl, the violin, the sheet of music, the chair back and the whole of the collie's fur — and it is on the dog that beadwork does its best work, with separate stitches of different lengths reading as long strands of hair.
