What the picture shows

On the left, almost full height, stands the owl in russet-brown plumage marked with crisp dark streaks across the breast, its feather tufts raised and its large eyes a yellow-green. On the right a branch spreads out under dense yellow blossom, with small pale blue flowers above it and thin dry stems reaching upward, tipped with brown buds. Snow lies along the bottom, painted in white and cool blue, and a sprig of russet berries shows at the left edge. The background is a light, misty grey with almost no detail. The beadwork is partial: you bead the bird, the blossom, the stems and the snowdrift, while the hazy grey sky stays as print and gives the piece air.
