“St. Taisiya” — a waist-length image of the venerable saint with her arms crossed on her chest, in a blue veil and ochre mantle.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally, her head slightly bowed and her eyes lowered. A blue veil with soft folds covers her head and shoulders, with a small gold cross at the brow. The outer mantle is ochre-brown, brushed with long pale strokes like stems; green cloth shows beneath it. Her arms are crossed on her chest. The halo is broad, built from gold and amber rows. The beading is partial: beads cover the figure, halo, corner rosettes, side ornament and lower cartouche, while the pale background with its printed leaf scroll stays in print on the canvas. Fan rosettes fill the upper corners, a narrow ornamental border runs down each side, and a cartouche in a gold frame sits at the bottom.
