“Melody of Lavender Fields” is an arched window with lilac shutters, lavender on the sill and a Provençal view beyond the panes.
What the picture shows
A window with a rounded top is set into a wall of warm ochre stone, and both lilac shutters are thrown wide open. Through the panes you see rows of lavender in bloom running towards a stone house with a tiled roof, dark cypresses, lilac hills on the horizon and a sky with white clouds. On the sill stand a metal watering can holding a bunch of lavender and a terracotta pot with another small bush, a tied bundle lies next to them, and green leaves grow under the window.
Beads cover the shutters, the window frame, the lavender, the watering can, the pot and part of the stonework. The view outside stays printed and looks like an oil painting, so the window really reads as a window: a glossy frame in front, a soft distance behind. The lilac shutters are worked in several shades from pinkish to deep purple, and they set the mood of the whole piece.

There are noticeably more beads here than usual for the 200×200 mm format, because the shutters are beaded solid, row by row. It is easiest to work them in strips from top to bottom, so the rows lie straight. Gallery finishing is provided for, with no frame and no mat. The easel, lavender sprigs, jug, thread spools, scissors and lace in the photos are props for the shoot and are not part of the kit.
