Description

“Sweet Holiday” is a three-dimensional gingerbread house: the walls are stitched separately, then assembled and stuffed with hollow fibre. 18 count Aida, 30 colours, 116 metres of thread.

What the picture shows

The house is built from four walls and a pitched roof. The base colour is a warm honey gingerbread, over which white thread lays down the icing: a wavy trim along the roof edge, scallops above the windows, dots and curls across the walls. The front has an arched door with red edging and two tall windows lit yellow from within, with a white eight-pointed star above the door. The side walls do not repeat the front: each carries its own set of small motifs, so the house rewards looking at from every side. Preciosa beads are sewn along the roof and around the windows, working as sugar balls and catching the light.
