Icon Bead Embroidery Pattern on Art Canvas "St. Nina"

“St. Nina” shows the saint holding the grapevine cross — the recognisable detail the whole composition is built around.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown nearly full length, frontally. Long dark hair falls onto her shoulders and a pale veil with a beaded band covers her head. Beneath an ochre-gold mantle worked in a large pattern, a blue tunic shows through. Her right hand holds a dark cross entwined with a green grapevine; her left holds a small blue vessel. The halo is a gold circle with a red rim. The fill is partial: beads cover the figure, the mantle, the vine cross, the halo, the border and the corner fans, while the cream ground with its printed scrollwork stays on the canvas. A border of brown squares runs along the edge, amber fan rosettes fill the upper corners, and a red name plate closes the bottom.
