How it works

A tapestry frame is not a hoop but a rectangular beech frame on which the fabric is stretched along two opposite sides rather than around a circle. The cloth is held by clip clamps: no screws, no marks on the fabric. The frame size adjusts through extra holes in the side bars, so one frame suits work of different heights. The wooden wing nuts turn by hand, with no tool needed. The main advantage over round hoops is that the fabric is not creased in a circle, so the finished piece carries no ring mark to press out afterwards.
