Cross Stitch Saga patterns: how to use the QR code

Selected Abris Art cross-stitch kits include a printed chart and a QR code for a digital SAGA chart. Scan the code supplied with your kit, save the pattern file and open it in a compatible cross-stitch app.

What is a SAGA pattern?

A SAGA pattern is an interactive version of a counted cross-stitch chart. It does not replace the materials or printed instructions in the kit. It makes a detailed chart easier to read on a phone or tablet: you can zoom without losing clarity, isolate symbols or colours and mark the stitches you have completed.

How to open the chart from an Abris Art kit

1. Find the QR code printed with the chart in your kit. Not every older design includes a digital file, so check the contents of your particular kit.
2. Install an application that supports SAGA files. Cross Stitch Saga is available for compatible Apple devices; availability, compatibility and price are controlled by the app developer and may change.
3. Scan the QR code with your device and download the offered pattern file.
4. Open the downloaded file in the compatible app. If the file does not open automatically, use the device Share or Open in menu and choose the app.
5. Check the design name and key against the printed chart before you begin.

Why use the interactive chart?

• Enlarge small symbols and move around a large design quickly.
• Highlight one colour or stitch type at a time.
• Mark completed areas and return to the same place later.
• Read fractional stitches, backstitch, French knots and beads when they are present in the source pattern.

Keep the printed chart and the original QR code after downloading the file. They are useful as a backup and for checking the colour key. The SAGA file is intended for personal use with the purchased kit; do not share it publicly.

If the QR code does not work

Make sure the camera has a clear view of the full code and try normal room lighting. If the link opens but the file cannot be imported, first update the app and check that the downloaded file has not been renamed. For a damaged or missing code, contact Abris Art and include the kit article number and a photo of the chart package.
