Description
“Cute angels” is a winter evening under the window of a wooden house: four small angels have settled on a snowy branch, and their warm golden light falls onto the snow.
What the picture shows
A large window with a wooden frame and small panes fills the centre and right of the picture; behind the glass a warm orange room shows lights and a wreath. The roof and sill carry thick caps of snow, and a branch hung with frost and icicles crosses the whole foreground — this is where the glowing figures sit. To the left opens a deep blue sky scattered with tiny stars, with a moon inside a pale halo, and a snow-covered fir stands below. Beadwork covers the window, the snow, the branch, the angels and the stars, while the watercolour sky and the more distant details stay as print on the artist canvas, which makes the warm light from the window look especially alive. The window is divided into nine panes, and a separate light shows in each of them.
