“Emerald Silence” is a large dragonfly with golden wings among deep greenery, lily pads and lilac blooms.
What the picture shows
The canvas is vertical and dark. In the middle, wings spread across its full width, sits a dragonfly: all four wings are filled with golden and amber beads over a fine network of veins, the long body runs from emerald at the thorax to copper at the tip, and the large eyes are built from violet beads. Around it is dense greenery: round lily pads with clear ribs, fern fronds and small shoots, all in half a dozen shades of green, from near-black to bright grass. Lilac and purple flowers with dark centres open at the corners. The background is a deep grey-green, so the gold of the wings glows against it as if lit from within.
