Description
“Mystic elixir” is a bookmark in a dark, occult palette: a night moth, a crescent moon and a lavender sprig set in a gothic arch, worked in black, blue-grey and gold over a warm sand ground.
What the picture shows
The composition is built vertically, like a stained-glass panel. At the top is a crescent moon in deep violet-black with a fine gold rim, surrounded by small gold stars. At the centre is a night moth with open wings: the wings are black with blue-grey banding and gold flecks, the body dark, the antennae thin and curved. Below sits a lavender sprig — lilac florets on dark stems, framed by sharp black leaves. A dark hexagonal medallion with a white eight-pointed star closes the composition at the bottom. All of it stands inside a black-and-gold arch with foliate corners. The ground is stitched solidly in warm sandy beige, so the dark elements come forward and the gold reads as backlighting. A margin of white Aida with fine gold tracery is left around the edge — a frame for the frame.
