Description

“Christmas wreath” is a wreath of bent willow, red poinsettia and berries with three bullfinches perched on it. 18 count Aida — the finest gauge in this group.

What the picture shows

The wreath is left open: the top and left are a smooth curve of several pale brown willow rods braided together, while the lower and right sections are filled with foliage and flowers. Three bullfinches with red breasts sit at different levels — one above on the willow, two side by side below; their black heads and steel-grey backs give the red the contrast it needs. Between the birds are large open poinsettia flowers with yellow centres, a sprig of holly with berries, green fir fronds and a heavy cluster of red viburnum. The white ground is left unstitched.
