Description

“Blue batterfly” shows a blue-and-violet butterfly resting beside an orange rose on a thin branch, against a cream canvas.

What the picture shows

A slender branch worked in gold and brown beads crosses the upper right of the field. It carries green feathery leaves, an orange rose with tightly curled petals and a white-and-orange daisy with a blue eye. The butterfly is large: wings in deep blue beads speckled with pale blue and edged in light, a violet body, and antennae made of single beads. Green stems with small leaves and two golden spikelets trail down from the flowers. The left part of the canvas stays light and empty — the place for a photograph, outlined by a thin gold bead border. The pale peach ground with its faint marbling stays printed.
