Midi Bead Embroidery Kit on Art Canvas "Star waltz"
Description
“Star waltz” is a dancer whose golden star bodice gives way to a skirt scattering into pale sparks.
What the picture shows
The figure is shown to the knees on a warm cream ground. The hair is pinned up under a wreath of golden flowers, and the bodice is a large five-pointed star worked in gold beads. Below it the dress turns into a wide cascade: grey, white, cream and gold rows of beads fall downward, with sewn-on sequins glinting between them. The face, shoulders and arms stay as printing on the canvas — that is by design; here the beads work only on the costume and the ornaments. The cascade of the skirt is uneven: in places the bead strands hang lower, in others they break off higher, which makes the hem look as if it is moving.

The 200×200 mm format, the restrained ground and the shine of the sequins make the piece festive without excess. Gallery finishing is provided for: the canvas is stretched on a bar frame with no baguette and no passe-partout. The level is simple, with thirteen colours; the sequins are sewn on last, once the main beading is finished.
