“The rhythm of life” is a night city under a swirling blue sky, its windows burning warm.
What the picture shows
Towers rise on both sides: their facades are worked in deep blue beads and their windows in rows of yellow, orange and red, so the buildings read as grids of light. Above, the sky is wound into spirals of azure and white with three large haloed stars. Below runs a street with cars, their red and yellow lights drawn out into streaks across wet asphalt. The dark gaps between the buildings stay as printing on the canvas. The windows are not uniform: some glow yellow, some red, and a few stay dark — that is what gives the facade its rhythm.
