Description
“Mischief in the Garden” is a rabbit settled on a sack of carrots among spring flowers.
What the picture shows
A grey and white rabbit lies on a linen sack with its paws tucked in; the sack is tied with cord and carrots with green tops stick out of it. Cornflowers, bluebells and yellow blossoms on thin stems rise around it, and a garden trowel and a few carrots lie on the ground below. The piece is light and finely worked: many shades of green and blue, with the shadows on the sack picked out in grey and brown. The white canvas stays as the background and keeps the design airy.
